Council on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence

CSADV is available to women and their families that are affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include a 24-hour hotline, shelter, advocacy, counseling, support groups, community outreach/education, and referrals. CSADV serves a five county area.

STARS (Special Troopers Adaptive Riding School)

STARS is a program that provides therapeutic horseback riding for both children and adults who are challenged with physical and/or mental disabilities. No experience is needed, we will train you to become a friendly, competent, and successful participant in our program. Come join us and experience the satisfaction of being a STARS volunteer. Classes are held both afternoons and evenings throughout the year.

Alzheimer’s Association

The Big Sioux Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association serves 15 counties in Northwest Iowa and three in Northeast Nebraska. It provides the following programs and services: Senior Day Services, Advocacy/Public Policy, Family/Community Education, Support Groups, Resource Library, In-home Respite, Family Assistance Program, Safe Return, and a Help line.

RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program)

RSVP is a volunteer program designed specifically for persons age 55 and over who are semi-retired or retired and are interested in remaining involved in the community in worthwhile, satisfying volunteer activities. Volunteers with RSVP spend a few hours a week or a month doing activities like; tutoring children and adults in reading, conducting museum tours, delivering meals to homebound persons, and visiting nursing home residents.

The Salvation Army

The Sioux City Salvation Army has an array of volunteer opportunities. We have many places where our events take place, including our community center, hope center (thrift store), and our Milestone Children’s Center.

Iowa Department of Human Services

As a volunteer at the Department of Human Services, you will have many fields from which you can choose. For example, you could work with staff doing filing, data entry on the computer, or answering phones. You could choose to transportation as an option.

Volunteerism is an integral part of Mercy Medical Center. We have many projects you may choose to participate in and a wide variety of volunteer opportunities which benefit our patients, families and employees within the hospital.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate)

“Speak up and become a child’s voice in court.” Within the imagination of a child, there are some things that have no place at all. Things like abuse, neglect, and despair. Everyday more than one thousand children are removed from their homes. These are victims who belong to no one. They sit silently, waiting for the courts to decide their futures. They need your voice.

Ronald McDonald House

The Sioux City Ronald McDonald House serves families whose children, age 21 years and younger, are receiving medical care in Sioux City. A comfortable, safe, and convenient “Home Away from Home.”

Girls Incorporated of Sioux City

The mission of Girls Incorporated of Sioux City is to focus on the special needs of girls by providing a positive and stimulating environment in which girls become aware of opportunities in life and develop their capacity to be self-sufficient members of the community.

Siouxland Aging Services, Inc.

Siouxland Aging Services, Inc. has been meeting the needs of seniors in Cherokee, Ida, Monona, Plymouth, and Woodbury counties since 1974.

Our programs include: Meals on Wheels, Information and Assistance, Case Management, Chore Services, Employment, Advocacy, Funding for Adult Day Care, Transportation, Outreach and other community-based programs, and Senior Housing.
